2022 Toyota Tundra Redesign – Toyota’s Tundra-Full size bakkie is, let’s be honest, a bit of a car relic. So much so that the origins of the current truck can be traced back to the last global financial crises (and ironically, it will see in the looming next one).

Fortunately for our isolated souls, the Japanese production giant is hard at work readying his next generation F-150 competitor. While his debut is still time off (and can even procrastinate, depending on how the pandemic affects the economy), we take an illustrative look at what to expect in terms of design and everything we know to date. So let’s take a deep breath and dive into all the details.
Sticky New Look
Styling on our speculative study is an unrivaled collective mix of RAV4 and new Highlander. The LED headlamps have C-shaped DRL signatures with high-mounted main beams. A detailed but the setting of Chrome trapezoidal-framed ornamental grid shares visual linage with the current truck and its upper air intake, which in turn leads the eye along with a RAM-like power hood.
The view of the side is just still muscular, while sheet metal faces the use of stiff tension in the mud screens and under through areas. For a point of difference, there are black filling segments at the foot of the pillars and rear roof zones in another visual nod to the latest RAV4. Out-back, it features a powered tailgate, CADILLAC-style vertical LED tail lights, integrated buffer steps and a configurable modular bed.
Under the skin
Underlying the new truck, Toyota’s new F1 architecture will be shared with the next generation Tacoma and Sequoia full-size SUV. It lies good for a kamerier, another higher-quality cabin with an abundance of technology and amenities. As The latest Highlander is something to go by, expect to have a 12.3-in touch-Screen incorporating Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, 4G Wi-Fi connectivity, and an JBL Audio system at a minimum.
Toyota’s Safety Sense 2.0 will also help you to include a package of the driver that includes low-light pedestrian detection, radar Cruise control, Lane departure warning with sending help, Lane detection assistance, automatic high beam control, front & behind Park help, and road login detection.
Power to drag
Allegedly the new Tundra will be a version of the ever present in the Lexus market, hybrid 3.5-litre V6, and a twin-Turbo 3.5-litre V6 under the ‘ I-Force Max ‘ banner with the latter pump 450 horsepower (335 kilowatts). Whether these hybrid engines will complement or completely replace the current 4.6-litre and 5.7-litre usually aspirated V8 units presented in the current truck, remain unknown. However, we find it difficult for Toyota not to offer at least one V8 option for traditional pickup truck consumers.
Power should be fed to the rear wheels (or optional, all four) via six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic broadcasts. The truck will coil spring rear and air suspension options, as well as dynamic torque vectower with multi-terrain and rail modes for those who go regularly from the beaten track.
How will the Toyota tunwear survive until 2022?
The speculated release of the 2022 Toyota Tundra has truck lovers about the guard of the cold hard facts. One thing we do know is however, that the 2020 Toyota Tundra is dated. So dated, in fact, that some have even said it is the worst truck on the market today.
The current Tundra pickup truck comes equipped with a host of standard features. But the current model Toyota Tundra is very long in the tooth. How will this old school model survive until the official debut of the 2022 Toyota Tundra redesigned?
It’s no secret that the Toyota Tundra has in dire need of some great updates. Sure it comes with the Toyota Standard Safety Suite, which is very competitive. It is also easily one of the best off-roading trucks you can buy in its TRD off-road trim.
But the interior feels as old as the gender, and-except for updated infotainment –-the technology lags a little behind. Alas, the Toyota Tundra will have to struggle until the 2022 debut of all that Toyota has in the store for its full size truck segment. And at this point, we can only hope that the debut will be timely in the wake of all the upset that the global economy saw in 2020.
2022 Toyota Tundra
As of this writing, Toyota is little information on what the new truck will be released. We know that Toyota has great plans for electrifying its entire range by 2025. With the complete redesign and release of a brand new Toyota Tundra, we can reasonably expect that it will involve some sort of electrified mobility.
Due to the movement in the green direction, it is also safe to assume that Toyota will be the V8 powerplant. It is quite exciting in terms of a possible hybrid AWD system. We can be fairly sure that Toyota will always promote this truck as both a job truck and an off-roding adventure animal. Such a new technology is sure to focus on maximizing effectiveness without putting any of the power necessary for towing or stone creep.
What will be the 2020 Tundra?
The 2020 Tundra is not really competing well with the ashes of the Ford F-150 or the Ram 1500. But it didn’t really have ever. This Toyota pickup truck is one of those trucks that love people for and buy and hold for a decade and then buy again. The only problem is that the current second generation is now in production for over a decade. Even that the last big model was refreshed half a decade ago. It’s no wonder people say it feels dated. A facelift only helps so much after a while.
From here to the 2022 drop we expect to see a little marketing of the present generation. If for no other reason, Toyota at least have to make room for the whole new third generation 2022 Toyota Tundra. The biggest thing the current Genesis is in its future generations is the V8.
It’s almost definitely the end of an era in terms of Tundra V8 power. The new power supply on the 2022 tundra pickup will probably use a V6 paired with hybrid battery technology. This makes a wide door of the opportunity for the Tundra to experience a little growing up. But where one door opens, make another door tightly. So Toyota’s biggest marketing ploy will now be to get your V8 quickly while you still can. And it will probably work.
Opponents, prizes and public
The All-New Tundra has some hard work ahead if it wants a larger slice of the full size truck pie. Ford’s Unstoppable F-150 will be the bracing electrification soon, and Chevrolet’s Silverado/GMC Sierra and RAM 1500 are a worthy look at… Oh and then there is nisssis Titan (only if you have forgotten), while Tesla is also looking for the segment with the full electric Cybertruck shake.
Prices for all grades of SR to TRD Pro (Double cab and CrewMax) are at the head of the top, although it is still competitive with core competition.
An official (although delayed) debut is expected in the fourth term next year, with sales beginning after December 2021 as an MY2022 offering.
